Rock in Prevention
information provided by: Polk County Health Services
ROCK IN PREVENTION'S goal is to educate and persuade children to live alcohol, tobacco and other drug free. Rock In Prevention provides youth lead solutions to current social problems. This is done through training local high school role models who then teach younger elementary school students refusal skills to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, character based, education, life coping skills and violence prevention.
Rock in Prevention benefits children and adults through six styles of service: High School Training, Grades K-3, 4-6, 7-8 Workshops, Special Populations and Family Programs. Rock In Prevention uses songs as teaching tools, social dramas and interactive exercises that help give children a working knowledge of how to live drug free. Rock In Prevention increases child assets to improve their resilience. The program has been presented to over 80,000 Iowa children.
